My name is Robert Robertson, and I am an On Site Lining Team Leader.

I’ve worked at Certikin for 8 years, with my anniversary coming up in May.

What has your career journey been like so far?
 
My career journey has been a fascinating one. I started out as a trainee receiving on-site training. Over time, I gained the experience needed to run my own installation jobs. Pushing for further advancement, I became the On Site Lining Team Leader, where I manage jobs, offer advice, and bring fresh ideas to the table.

What does a typical day look like for you? 
 
A typical day involves starting work between 6am and 8am, depending on the job’s location. I begin by inspecting the pool shell to ensure it’s ready for the liner installation. Then, I plan and delegate tasks to the engineers working with me, making sure we complete each step of the job as professionally and efficiently as possible.

How would you describe the company culture?
 
The culture at Certikin feels more like a family than just a team of colleagues. The supportive environment makes the job less stressful, as I can always reach out to someone if I’m having issues.

What is the best thing about working at Certikin?
 
It’s hard to pinpoint just one thing, but for me, traveling around the country and discovering new places stands out. I enjoy bonding with the team, whether it’s over a meal or a drink at the end of the day when we stay away in hotels and the banter on site is always a plus.

How would you describe your co-workers and managers?
 
My co-workers and managers make the job feel less like work, everyone’s supportive and seems to want you to push yourself but with none of the added pressure.

What is your team like?

The team I work with varies from week to week, depending on the job, but no matter who I have alongside me it works well. Most jobs you’ll be in a team with 2 or 3 great lads, occasionally on bigger jobs you could have everyone on site together which always makes for a good laugh.

How has the organisation helped you with your development?
 
Since joining Certikin, my confidence has grown immensely. I’ve gained valuable experience and leadership skills that have shaped me both personally and professionally.

How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

The growth opportunities at Certikin are there for anyone who’s willing to put in the effort. The company provides a clear path for progression, and if you’re dedicated, you can advance in your career.

Jo Catterall, Business Development Manager.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

September 1997, so almost 27 years!

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

Exciting, challenging and rewarding.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

In my new role, every day is different and produces new challenges and situations. I could be analysing customers spend with us one hour and then arranging flights and hotel accommodation for a customer factory visit the next hour.  The days and weeks go very quickly!

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Friendly, motivational, flexible, responsible, engaging and with a high emphasis on teamwork and providing a first-class service to our customers.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people I work with and the customers.
The opportunities that arise and the encouragement to progress.
Working in a friendly open-plan office, which creates a pleasant working environment.
Plus, when a customer gives good feedback on the service we, as a company, have provided, it makes you feel proud of the whole Certikin team.

8. What is your team like?

A range of different skills across the team/s, but the common traits are that they are all supportive, loyal, reliable, passionate and a delight to work with.

Regular training and the opportunity to take on new tasks out of my ‘comfort zone’, both of which have helped me professionally and personally.

1. What is your name and role in the company?

Karolina McCaslin – Accounting Team Manager.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

Since June 2021 – just over 4 years.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

Since leaving school, I have always worked within finance, starting as an Apprentice doing my AAT and working my way to Assistant Accountant. My Certikin career started as an Assistant Accountant, my main responsibilities were processing the company’s payroll and reconciliation work. I then took on the role of Accounting Team Supervisor and at the start of 2025 I was promoted to Accounting Team Manager. Overall, I would describe my career as progressive, challenging and exciting

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day varies, one day I can be supporting the team with supplier or customer queries and overlooking the payroll and next looking at ways we can develop and streamline our processes or leading the financial audit and assisting with producing our company accounts. I enjoy the variety that my role brings, it allows me to work with people from all over the company.

Friendly, supportive, inclusive and driven.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

I would say the people, the support from your colleagues, I have definitely made friends for life.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Everyone is helpful and welcoming. The managers are supportive and always happy to give advice and guidance if needed.

8. What is your team like?

Within the accounts team, we have a great range of experience, it’s lovely to see everyone working together, passing and sharing the knowledge they have. We’re always looking at ways we can make improvements. They’re a great team to be a part of.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

Certikin has been great when it comes to development, I am currently studying towards my ACCA qualification and due to complete within the next year, I have had amazing support during the process so far. As well as training the advice and guidance received from management has been extremely beneficial in helping me develop my skills.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

There are great opportunities within Certikin, and they always look to promote within where appropriate, there are many colleagues who have either progressed within their team or moved across departments.

My name is Lovela Shaw and I am a Technical Sales Advisor in Certikin.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I have been working at Certikin for over 3 years now.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

I would describe it as exciting and quite adventurous. I started working as a maternity cover in the export department. Now I am in my 4th job role or 4 different department within 3  years.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

No day is the same which I prefer personally as it makes the work more interesting and less boring. Some days, I spend more time speaking to customers over the phone providing technical assistance, other days is more of answering queries over emails and help process orders.

Friendly and overall a positive working environment.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The best thing about working at Certikin for me is its people. I have always appreciated this ever since I started.

Everyone is lovely, approachable and never hesitates to extend help.

8. What is your team like?

We are a small team and is a close-knit team. We have an open communication and a good understanding of each of our responsibilities.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

The organisation has helped me a lot. Personally, I think they are good in spotting potential at people. I would have not realised that I like the job role I have right now had they not offered it to me in the first place.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

I have only been from one position (Administrative-Role) to another (Technical Sales Advisor) and it has been good for me so far but based on my observation on others, I think everyone is given a fair chance for a career growth but everyone’s timeline is different.

My name is Oliver Hale, and I’m the Product Manager for the Pools Division.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I joined Certikin in May 2023 as a Sales Order Processor. In September 2023, I moved into Technical Sales for Autocovers, and by March 2025, I stepped into my current role as Product Manager for the Pools Division.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

It’s been varied and rewarding. Starting in Sales Order Processing, I adapted to working in an office environment after 11 years in food retail. Moving into Technical Sales just four months later gave me the chance to develop my technical knowledge and strengthen my problem-solving skills. After 18 months, I transitioned into my current position, where I’m able to draw on my previous management experience and everything I learned in Autocovers.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

I spend time supporting customers by phone and email, troubleshooting technical issues, reviewing product pricing, and helping my team build their product knowledge. I also liaise with suppliers and manufacturers about new products and monitor sales reports. Some days we’ll have customers / suppliers visit the office for in person meetings and will give a tour of the new facility whilst they are here. Depending on the queries received on any day, will work alongside the other teams here to ensure a result is found.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Friendly and cohesive. Everyone works together, shares knowledge, and supports each other to ensure we deliver great service to our customers.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people you work alongside, socially and professionally, everyone is approachable and always happy to help.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

They’re a fantastic group of people. You can talk to managers about anything and always feel listened to and that they are engaged, whilst there is always plenty of support from colleagues. We are all working towards the same goal, everyone is open-minded and always looking for more efficient ways to tackle issues that may arise.

8. What is your team like?

Energetic and always eager to help find a solution to any problem we are presented with. They are always learning and adapting, and we have an open forum where we regularly discuss queries and share updates so everyone stays informed.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

There are plenty of opportunities for technical training with suppliers and manufacturers. Colleagues are always happy to share their knowledge, and I’ve been encouraged to apply for internal roles as they become available.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

Career progression is strongly supported. Internal movement is encouraged when roles open up, and plenty of training occurs within each team with clear paths to success and personal development.

Lucinda – Customer Services Supervisor

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

3 years, 6 months.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

My career has predominantly always been in customer services initially working in frontline roles. Throughout, as more experience has been gained and the company policies mastered, there has always been progression to team leading/supervisor roles and supporting companies in staff training/development and ensuring the companies policies are adhered to.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

The days vary, however the three main duties of my typical day are: Monitoring the team’s performance and ensuring al required deadlines are met. Assessing and assisting the team with daily duties fitting in where I would be mostly required. Providing support for the CS manager and my colleagues across the business, internally and externally.

Collaborative, friendly and casual.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

It’s a really relaxed but professional environment.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Everyone is approachable and friendly. The staff/colleagues al really make it a pleasant environment to work in.

8. What is your team like?

The team I work directly with are all fabulous. Everyone is really passionate about doing a good job, and the teamwork is admirable.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

The time and patience my own manager has put into my work development has been incredible. The verbal feedback is continuous and motivating.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

There are many staff members who have moved departments over time, expanding their knowledge and skill sets. I always love to ask senior staff members who have worked here for many years which department they started in. Certikin retain staff really well and many long standing staff.

Shaun Clark and my role is Operations Manager

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I have been with the company for 12 years

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

My Certikin career has been great from the word go as I started out as a Buyer in the Purchasing Department having gained experience of Supply Chain roles through previous companies. I have worked my way up having been promoted to Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager and for the past year as Operations Manager.. It has been an enjoyable 11 years and I’ve really enjoyed the path that I am on….

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

First thing is a coffee! I like to vary my communication throughout the day so I have a lot of face-to-face discussions, walk arounds , meetings, projects and managing the Operations perspective of the business, covering all things production, supply chain and logistics.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

It’s been a brilliant place to work, the atmosphere is great, we have a lovely new site and the Certikin Christmas party is always a good opportunity for colleagues to enjoy and dance the night away.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people. It is a great bunch of colleagues, friendly and we work as a team.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Excellent! We all work together to achieve the best outcome and offer support whether it is needed or not. Tim played a massive part in my development and had trust in me to be where I am today, so I cannot speak highly of him and the team enough.

8. What is your team like?

The team are reliable, hardworking and I trust them to carry out a task without fail. They’re developing, learning and we will all work together to build the departments to best possible team we can.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

Certikin has provided trust, belief and training which has resulted in my promotions in the 10 years. I have had various management training courses, advice for experienced colleagues and most of all the opportunity to develop the team.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

The company is very good at looking internally to recruit and is always on hand to offer opportunities. Certikin has grown in the time I have been with them and I can see further growth as we continue to build on our success.

1. What is your name and role in the company?

Alex Miron, Export Account Executive.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I’ve worked for Certikin for two years and three months.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

It’s been exciting and fast-paced. I began in the Commercial team, working on major UK projects and key accounts, which gave me a strong grounding in pricing and delivery. Moving into Export over the last year has broadened my scope supporting international customers, solving complex logistics challenges, and deepening my technical knowledge across the full product range. I’m now building leadership skills as I prepare to manage the Export team.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

I start by prioritising quotes, orders, and urgent customer requests. I coordinate shipments with our warehouse and carriers, keeping customers updated on ETAs. My day includes calls with customers around the world, reviewing department sales figures and pipeline, ensuring we’re competitive on project pricing, and collaborating with our technical sales teams on product queries. I also research global markets and plan sales strategies based on customer history and current market conditions.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Supportive, practical, and customer focused. People take ownership, share knowledge freely, and pull together to get things done. It’s a place where you can speak up, improve processes, and see your ideas implemented.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people and the variety. No two days are the same, and you can see the impact of your work immediately whether that’s successfully completing an urgent shipment or helping a customer deliver a big and important project.

Skilled, approachable, and super helpful.

Friendly, funny, great team workers, and solution driven. We communicate openly and move quickly when customers need us.

9. How has the organization helped your with your development?

I’ve had product training, and opportunities to lead many projects, which has accelerated my growth.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

There’s room to grow technically, broaden your skill set across different areas, and step into leadership. To make this even stronger, clearer progression structures, more guidance, and a formal mentoring approach would help – especially for those early in their careers. My name is Louis Gray, and I am a Technical Sales Advisor in the H&V (Heating and Ventilation) department.

I Joined Certikin in September 2024, so I am just shy of 1 year.

Certikin has kicked off my Career journey following on from my graduation from university. This has allowed me to transition from a study and research background to an office based environment with ease.

My day consists of aiding customers with any technical queries they may have about one of our products, such as any installation details or technical data. I also help customers with our recommendations of which unit we would suggest based on our calculations, quoting for the unit, and ordering the unit ready for delivery when needed. As well as this, I help with any fault finding and diagnosis on these units.

Certikin has a very amicable culture, with everyone doing their best to make you feel welcome, and to help support you with your roles.

The best thing really is the people you meet and build connections with. Experiencing your own self growth is also equally rewarding.​

Very knowledgeable people that are easy to approach and are willing to help. They help develop you to become more proficient at the role, as well as keeping the environment light and easy going.

8. What is your team like?

My manager and team has helped initiate me to the office, and has aided my progression and knowledge well. Aside from this, the team shares a good sense of humour and has a friendly manner which helps with the relationships within the team.

My development started early on with Certikin sending me out to meet with some of the manufacturers of the units which we sell. This allowed me to gain an insight on how the units operate, and understand the full range of products. These visits also allowed me to meet in-person, the members of these companies which I would be in regular communication with as part of my job. As well as this, I have also been paired with my very knowledgeable colleagues who have helped build a greater understanding of these units both on site, and in office.

So far I have primarily been office based, but have recently had the opportunity to complete on-site visits to help grow my experience in another role. I have alsowitnessed other colleagues get promoted to other departments and switch roles internally, so there is definitely the opportunity for growth and expansion of knowledge.

My name is Ruby Peters, and I am the Senior Buyer in our Purchasing Department.

In total it’s been about 6 and a half years but across two stints. In March 2022, after being at Certikin for 5 years, I made the decision to leave the company to try something else however in March 2024, I found myself back in my old office like I never left, and it was the best decision I have ever made.

Prior to Certikin, I had always worked in hospitality and so working in Purchasing was something I completely fell in to and I haven’t looked back since. I started with Certikin as a Purchasing Administrator and after a couple of years of doing that, I was then promoted to a Buyer. After returning in 2024, a Senior Buyer position became available within a few months, and I decided to take the leap, apply and here I am today. I have also more recently been covering our Purchasing Manager for her maternity leave and so that has been another interesting step in my career and has given me the opportunity to be part of different projects and tasks and gain some managerial experience.

A 40-minute drive into work, listening to some of my favourite songs and then as soon as I’m through the office door, it’s a cup of Yorkshire Tea! In all honesty, no two days are the same and that’s what I love about my job. Some days I am overseeing the Purchasing team, helping them with their supplier accounts, supporting with placing purchase orders and other days I can be in back-to-back meetings talking about process improvements or in the warehouse speaking with our goods inwards team about deliveries.

I love the culture at Certikin, so much so that I came back! We have a lovely new site, with great facilities and we have really good people. When I left Certikin, I really missed working somewhere where everyone would say good morning to you or even just a smile and you’ll always get that here.

It’s always going to be the people. You spend more time with colleagues than you do withyour family most of the time and so having great people around you in the workplace is essential. Everyone is genuinely really friendly and approachable. I often go to see colleagues at their desks, asking them questions or racking their brains about something and they will always make time to speak with me.

I have had the same manager for the majority of my time at Certikin and he has helped and guided me throughout my time here. Everything I know now is because of him. We have a great relationship, and I know his door is always open should I ever need to speak to him about anything. I value the knowledge of my co-workers, and I am always asking questions if I am ever unsure and they will always listen and help me.

We have a small team with a varied range of experience, but we all work really well together and are often bouncing ideas off each other. We help each other out when we are tied up with other tasks or projects and it’s a team I’m proud of. Everyone gives their best every day and you can’t ask for anything more than that.

I’ve worked my way up since starting at Certikin so the opportunities for me to develop have been amazing. I’ve learnt from some of the very best and I continue to learn something new every day. I’ve had the opportunity to do numerous training courses that are relevant to my role and have helped me with my day-to-day work. I am also very grateful to Certikin for giving me the opportunity to travel and visit some of our suppliers overseas. This has helped massively in terms of my knowledge and confidence.

We have lots of people here that have either progressed within their team or moved to other departments so there are lots of great opportunities that come up. From my experience, I have spoken quite a lot to my manager about my personal career goals over the years and Certikin has always been very supportive of this and given me advice and feedback on how I can achieve those goals.

It has been very good – I was not expecting to be where I am today. I really enjoy what I do in the warehouse, and I think that has helped with becoming the Forklift Trainer. I have a lot of hours clocked up while using forklifts and dealing with oversized loads, standard loads, scanning products and locating them in and around the building from my previous employer, which has really helped me with what I do here. After some time in the role of Warehouse Operative, I was then made the Warehouse Co-Ordinator, which really took me by surprise as I was not expecting it. Recently I have joined the Health & Safety committee, which has opened up more information to me about just how many aspects there are that the company deals with day to day.

It can range from tipping loads that come in with stock that can be a single pallet to over 60-100 plus in a day, to dropping stock to replenish the picking locations.Rotating chemical and media stock in the yard, to help load deliveries going out.Organizing paperwork for lesson plans, H&S paperwork for new starters and refresher courses for forklifts and other manual handling equipment, checking MHE and reporting any faults to the company that maintains the equipment, and recently I have joined the Health & Safety team. I have also made a couple of deliveries to customers. So, it’s safe to say I can have a full day!
