4. What does a typical day look like for you?

In my new role, every day is different and produces new challenges and situations. I could be analysing customers spend with us one hour and then arranging flights and hotel accommodation for a customer factory visit the next hour.  The days and weeks go very quickly!

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Friendly, motivational, flexible, responsible, engaging and with a high emphasis on teamwork and providing a first-class service to our customers.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people I work with and the customers.
The opportunities that arise and the encouragement to progress.
Working in a friendly open-plan office, which creates a pleasant working environment.
Plus, when a customer gives good feedback on the service we, as a company, have provided, it makes you feel proud of the whole Certikin team.

A range of different skills across the team/s, but the common traits are that they are all supportive, loyal, reliable, passionate and a delight to work with.

Regular training and the opportunity to take on new tasks out of my ‘comfort zone’, both of which have helped me professionally and personally.

Scott Cowan. Site Project Manager.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

I’ve been fortunate to be engaged in the on-site lining aspect of the business since its inception. Starting as a lining engineer, my responsibilities included installing pool liners nationwide and providing training to new team members. My journey began as an On-site Lining Engineer, advanced to Senior On-site Team Leader, and has now evolved into the position of Site Project Manager.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is different for me; I might be traveling for on-site visits across the country, meeting with both existing and prospective clients. I could also be troubleshooting on-site with clients or our site lining teams. In the office my time may be spent writing reports, attending meetings with various departments, and collaborating with our technical sales team and service team to anticipate and reduce potential issues before they occur during the lining installations.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

While I may not have the opportunity to be in the office frequently, I find it to be a welcoming and friendly environment when I am there. Everyone is supportive and respectful, and although workplace issues can arise, they are addressed in a constructive manner through direct line managers and/or HR.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

Being part of a market leader like Certikin means always staying ahead of the game, which is important to me. I appreciate the positive advancements in the market that Certikin must make to maintain its top position. This commitment to progress is reflected in the new purpose-built building, showcasing the company’s dedication to evolving with the times. I take pride in being an employee of such a forward-thinking organization.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

I always appreciate the helpful and accommodating nature of my colleagues. Due to my limited time in the office environment, catching up with the necessary people and departments can sometimes feel a bit rushed. However, I am grateful that I can drop in on someone without prior notice, and it is never a problem.

8. What is your team like?

Our team is exceptional. We are fully committed to our work and dedicated to becoming the top liner installers in the country. This dedication is evident in both our Technical Sales Team and Service Team alike. Without their support we wouldn’t have the opportunities to showcase our skills. I am grateful to my direct manager and higher management for encouraging my growth and development within the company.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

I consider myself lucky enough to have been given the chance to evolve alongside the On-site lining division of the business. The journey to our current success has been demanding, but the effort we have put in has not gone unnoticed and has been met with recognition and appreciation.

Like most things, you get out what you put in. If you have what it takes, then it won’t go unnoticed.

1. What is your name and role in the company?

Karolina McCaslin – Accounting Team Supervisor.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

Since June 2021 – just over 3 years.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

Since leaving school, I have always worked within Finance, starting as an Apprentice doing my AAT and working my way to Assistant Accountant. My Certikin career started as an Assistant Accountant, my main responsibilities were processing the company’s payroll and reconciliation work. I was then promoted to my current role of Accounting Team Supervisor. Overall, I would describe my career as progressive, challenging and exciting.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day varies, one day I can be supporting the team with supplier or customer queries and processing the payroll, and the next looking at ways we can develop and streamline our processes or assisting with producing our company accounts. I enjoy the variety that my role brings, as it allows me to work with people from all over the company.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Friendly, supportive, inclusive and driven.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

I would say the people, the support from your colleagues, I have definitely made friends for life.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Everyone is helpful and welcoming. The managers are supportive and always happy to give advice and guidance if needed.

8. What is your team like?

Within the accounts team, we have a great range of experience, it’s lovely to see everyone working together, passing and sharing the knowledge they have. We’re always looking at ways we can make improvements. They’re a great team to be a part of.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

Certikin has been great when it comes to development, I am currently studying towards my ACCA qualification, I have had amazing support during the process so far. As well as training the advice and guidance received from management has been extremely beneficial in helping me develop my skills.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

There are great opportunities within Certikin, and they always look to promote within where appropriate, there are many colleagues who have either progressed within their team or moved across departments.

1. What is your name and role in the company?

My name is Lovela Shaw and I am a Technical Sales Advisor in Certikin.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I have been working at Certikin for over 3 years now.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

I would describe it as exciting and quite adventurous. I started working as a maternity cover in the export department. Now I am in my 4th job role or 4 different department within 3  years.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

No day is the same which I prefer personally as it makes the work more interesting and less boring. Some days, I spend more time speaking to customers over the phone providing technical assistance, other days is more of answering queries over emails and help process orders.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Friendly and overall a positive working environment.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The best thing about working at Certikin for me is its people. I have always appreciated this ever since I started.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Everyone is lovely, approachable and never hesitates to extend help.

8. What is your team like?

We are a small team and is a close-knit team. We have an open communication and a good understanding of each of our responsibilities.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

The organisation has helped me a lot. Personally, I think they are good in spotting potential at people. I would have not realised that I like the job role I have right now had they not offered it to me in the first place.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

I have only been from one position (Administrative-Role) to another (Technical Sales Advisor) and it has been good for me so far but based on my observation on others, I think everyone is given a fair chance for a career growth but everyone’s timeline is different.

1. What is your name and role in the company?

Oliver Hale. I started as a Sales Order Processor/Customer Services Administrator then was quickly promoted to my current role of Automatic Covers Technical Sales Advisor.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

Coming from a retail background of 11 years, Certikin has been a great place to adapt to working in an office-based environment.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

Lots of correspondence with customers on the phone and via email, placing orders and making amendments, chasing lead times on orders, processing quotes, assisting with technical queries.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Healthy and friendly, everybody gets on well with each other and works as one big team to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The people, able to talk to everyone like you’ve known them for years.

Very open and friendly people that are willing to help with any query.

Welcoming, felt like a proper member of the team from day one.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

My manager and colleagues have supported me in every step of learning the role, I feel able to freely ask any question without being judged, with my colleagues happy to put time aside to assist with my development.

Lucinda – Customer Services Supervisor

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

3 years, 6 months.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

My career has predominantly always been in customer services initially working in frontline roles. Throughout, as more experience has been gained and the company policies mastered, there has always been progression to team leading/supervisor roles and supporting companies in staff training/development and ensuring the companies policies are adhered to.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

The days vary, however the three main duties of my typical day are: Monitoring the team’s performance and ensuring al required deadlines are met. Assessing and assisting the team with daily duties fitting in where I would be mostly required. Providing support for the CS manager and my colleagues across the business, internally and externally.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

Collaborative, friendly and casual.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

It’s a really relaxed but professional environment.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Everyone is approachable and friendly. The staff/colleagues al really make it a pleasant environment to work in.

8. What is your team like?

The team I work directly with are all fabulous. Everyone is really passionate about doing a good job, and the teamwork is admirable.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

The time and patience my own manager has put into my work development has been incredible. The verbal feedback is continuous and motivating.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

There are many staff members who have moved departments over time, expanding their knowledge and skill sets. I always love to ask senior staff members who have worked here for many years which department they started in. Certikin retain staff really well and many long standing staff.

Shaun Clark and my role is Supply Chain Manager

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I have been with the company for 11 years

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

My Certikin career has been great from the word go as I started out as a Buyer in the Purchasing Department having gained experience of Supply Chain roles through previous companies. I have worked my way up having been promoted to Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager and for the past year as Supply Chain Manager. It has been an enjoyable 11 years and I’ve really enjoyed the path that I am on….

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

First thing is a coffee! I like to vary my communication throughout the day so I have a lot of face-to-face discussions, walk arounds and meetings. Keeping up to date with my team’s progress, developing new ideas, projects and managing the Supply Chain flow from buying the products to dispatching to our customers.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

It’s been a brilliant place to work, the atmosphere is great, we have a lovely new site and the Certikin Christmas party is always a good opportunity for colleagues to enjoy and dance the night away.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The people. It is a great bunch of colleagues, friendly and we work as a team.

7. How would you describe your co-workers and managers?

Excellent! We all work together to achieve the best outcome and offer support whether it is needed or not. Tim (my manager) has trusted me throughout my time at Certikin and believed in what I can do so I cannot speak highly of him and the team enough.

8. What is your team like?

The team are reliable, hardworking and I trust them to carry out a task without fail. They’re developing, learning and we will all work together to build the departments to best possible team we can.

9. How has the organisation helped you with your development?

Certikin has provided trust, belief and training which has resulted in my promotions in the 10 years. I have had various management training courses, advice for experienced colleagues and most of all the opportunity to develop the team.

10. How would you describe the growth opportunities at Certikin?

The company is very good at looking internally to recruit and is always on hand to offer opportunities. Certikin has grown in the time I have been with them and I can see further growth as we continue to build on our success.

Alex Miron, Commercial Technical Sales.

2. How long have you worked for Certikin?

I’ve worked for Certikin for just over one year and one month.

3. What has your career journey been like so far?

My career journey has been exciting so far. I have learned a lot from my team members and from the day-to-day tasks. I have been able to build a solid knowledge foundation of our products and of the processes needed to be most efficient in my role.

4. What does a typical day look like for you?

I start the day by looking over my emails and prioritizing the most important ones. Then, I tackle my daily task list, which includes answering incoming calls related to Commercial and managing my inbox. I also dedicate my time to larger projects, preparing quotes, negotiating with customers, and closing sales. I also provide technical support to customers and stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor products through regular research.

5. How would you describe the company culture?

So far I find the company culture as very friendly. I found everyone very welcoming and supporting during my learning process within the first year. While the team easily offers assistance, I do believe there is room for more structured guidance and personal development initiatives.

6. What is the best thing about working at Certikin?

The best thing about working at Certikin is the people. Everyone is very friendly and supportive. I have made some good friends here. I also really enjoy the work that I do. It is challenging and rewarding.

My co-workers and managers are friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. They are always willing to help me out and answer any questions that I have.

My team is great. We are all very supportive of each other and work well together.

9. How has the organization helped your with your development?

The organisation has helped me with my development by providing me with opportunities to learn, grow, and implement some of my ideas. I have been able to attend some training courses and seminars. I have also been given the opportunity to take on more responsibility and have been involved in some interesting projects.
